Kastro Hotel is a family-run hotel in Agios Kirykos, the capital of Ikaria. Built into the rock in 1993, it looks out over the whole harbour and the Aegean, about a 5-minute walk from where the ferry docks.

Agios Kirykos is the most practical base on Ikaria, especially if you don’t have a car. Ferries from Piraeus and Samos dock here; banks, pharmacies, supermarkets, car rentals, tavernas and cafés are all in town, and most stay open year-round. The thermal springs of Therma are 1.5 km away on foot (about 23 minutes’ walk) or 2.8 km by road (8 minutes by car).

Getting here
